The ever increasing popularity of twin-shock trials has meant prices commanded by some of the more desirable machines, are in many cases higher than the bike price when new!

This has led to some very shiny “restored” original bikes  appearing, as well as a few quite nicely made retro chassis kits for twin-shock machines, and some rather more modern designs for Brit twin-shock use.

However the cost of properly restoring a bike in poor condition can easily add up to more than £2K, so unless the seller is able to provide a full written list of the work carried out, and invoices for parts fitted,  we would suggest extreme caution in relation to this type of machine.

It is very easy to remove the engine and running gear from a worn out old twin-shock, and have the assembled chassis blast cleaned, and then spray the whole sorry mess with twin pack paint. A badly worn motor can be treated in the same way, and actually looks very much as though it has been properly rebuilt after being “restored” in this way!

All that glitters may be? Fools gold!

Its very easy to make a relatively expensive mistake when buying any older machine, and unless you don't mind  paying top money for a bike  in very poor mechanical condition, we would suggest insistence on what we have outlined in the third paragraph above, and ideally also arrange personal inspection of any prospective purchase.

Finally if you are looking for a top notch properly restored/rebuilt Fantic, and are comfortable with paying for the work to be carried out correctly, then please contact us directly, as we may well be able to put you in touch with someone who is able to help.

* Finally please remember that all of the above information is provided on the strict proviso that any modifications or changes not carried out specifically by Classictrial, are not guaranteed or warranted in any way, and are entirely the responsibility of the individual carrying them out, and that Classictrial are not responsible in any circumstances for  damage or injury, that may occur as a result of poor workmanship. *
